Ecological Augur

A source-based plant and ecology research application.

Ask an ecological question and Ecological Augur consults the Ecological Commons for occurrence records, taxonomy, conservation data, and other available evidence before composing a response.

Transparent evidence and uncertainty

  • Sourced from the Commons: evidence retrieved for the question.
  • Inferred from training: general AI knowledge, labeled separately.
  • Gaps and uncertainty: missing, fragile, or contested knowledge stated explicitly.
  • Trust groups: selectable source groups that let research use different source priorities.

Ecological Augur is an experiment in community-enabling knowledge: it tests how AI can support structured, inspectable ecological research without acting as a final authority. The objective is to make shared evidence more visible, reviewable, and useful to restoration communities.
